Siege of Darguun - Part I - The long march to war

End of a Battle. Beginnings of a War

Atrius MoonOrchid jumped through the air, greatspear held high above his head with both hands, and disappeared.
… and reappeared seconds later driving the shaft of the mighty weapon full strength into the chest of a training dummy set up for him, the force of the impact shattering his target into splinters.

The sound of clapping echoed loudly in the large empty room; that is, empty but for himself and weapons master Triel Sunbreeze, a noble from a minor house, but, unquestionably, the greatest Eladrin combat tactician of his time. A ballista bolt had very nearly ended his life two years back, and the damage to his leg proved too strong for even the strongest of available magics to fully repair. Now he walked with a limp and was relegated to ‘merely’ training all of Shae Joridal’s best military officers in advanced techniques. And he did not tolerate soft leaders at all.

Atrius was exhausted, physically and emotionally. He had carried the weight of an entire nation on his shoulders and failed. Shae Joridal had fallen. The Archfey was dead and the Darguun flag blew in the wind from the highest tower. And all of this because of a truly ancient and mysterious foe.

That day, Eladrin murdered Eladrin, and a civilization, so far removed in history so as to have become legend, had reappeared enraged and vengeful.

It had started with dreams and visions of terror. And a talking head.

Brynn had delivered to them the rotting head of a gnome, specifically that of the very circus gnome they had met in Droaam. Seemed he had betrayed them, and Brynn’s mysterious patron had delivered the gnome to the party as a gift … minus it’s body below the neck. A ritual had allowed the party to interrogate the remains only to discover that events to come were unfolding due to the machinations of a so called Prince of Nightmares, a name as of yet unknown to them. And then the gnome had uttered words that had sent a chill down Atrius’ back: Taer Lian Doresh. The Tower of Dreams, lost for many thousands of years.

News of Morocco’s mercenary troops’ early deployment as well visions of Shae Joridal’s failing magical defenses prompted Atrius, Morocco, Raven, and Brynn to seek out the nearest teleportation ring and travel back to his home to both seek council and warn his leaders of a possible new player involved in what now appeared to have become some sort of global Machiavellian game: a future conflict that could eclipse the great war that had ravaged these same lands less than five years ago and utterly destroyed the greatest human nation.

An additional vision had seemed to indicate the Archfey may have been a possible target of mental corruption.

The Council seemed simultaneously stunned and sceptical. Despite the seeming urgency of the situation, they advised they could only take this new information into consideration without promising to act on it. Privately, the Archfey confided in Atrius that with morale already dropping, it was best if they would focus on the dangers they already knew, rather than those that could only be speculated on. Including that of his own mental subordination.

And that is when an explosion, bigger than he had personally ever seen, had thrown apart one of Shae Joridal’s two tower and threw him to the ground, stunned and deafened. Through blurred vision, he vaguely registered the Archfey blasting a hole through a wall of his chamber and fly out to the now decapitated second tower, a very familiar Raven flying not too far behind.

Once they found their bearings, Atrius, Morocco, and Brynn ran to the nearest bridge, intent on crossing it to the other side and assess the disaster for themselves. On that bridge, the party encountered one of the mysterious ‘dark Eladrin’, alongside some ogres and shadowy winged creatures, all intent on blocking their way. And it was on this bridge where the party finally got to witness Brynn’s mettle in combat. In a very short combat that mostly consisted of her slamming foes to the ground and pushing them off the bridge, they ran across and climbed the rubble.

In the meantime, Raven had found herself on the newly created roof of the second tower, witnessing an epic battle between the Archfey and three equally godlike antagonists. And behind them, a portal leading somewhere, clearly where many of these new enemy forces had swept in from. with stealth and deft agility, she slowly dismantled the magical mechanisms keeping the portal open. When she was eventually spotted, the Archfey sacrificed himself in a final act of immolation that would destroy himself and his titanic foes before they could turn their attention fully on the much weaker druid attempting to shut down their means of entry and exit.

The party would come back together further along the roof to assist the defenders in mopping up some more of this terrifying new enemy. With vast control over powers of darkness, and a truly irritating capacity to virtually paralyse combatants, it was a much closer fight than the previous one. But once again, the four of them prevailed.

Hundreds of feet below, the Eladrin defenders were in a desperate fight for survival. A massive chunk of the tower had struck open a large hole at the surface, and suddenly, eight thousand raging goblins and hobgoblins charged forward to take advantage, defended only by sixteen hundred combat-weary Eladrin.

The battle lasted hours, with huge casualties on both sides, but in the end, the much more experienced Eladrin defenders soaked the earth with the blood of five hobgoblins for every one Eladrin killed. Nonetheless, with a huge gaping hole in their defenses, the now leaderless Eladrin of Shae Joridal were forced to surrender to vastly superior Darguun forces.

The Darguun leaders did not wish to see the fighting continue, a fight that was far more costly to their forces than those of the defenders. In the end, the Eladrin were forced to become a vassal state to the Darguun empire, with a military unit of Eladrin sent to serve in Rhukaan Draal, as well as several nobles kept there as hostages. In exchange, the Eladrin were allowed, for the most part, their autonomy within the walls of the their city-state.

Autonomy. To Atrius, there was absolutely nothing autonomous about their situation. There were many Eladrin that were content with the fact that the fighting had finally come to an end, but Atrius was a noble and a soldier. He had spent years defending the walls specifically so that his proud race could maintain their freedom … and conditional freedom, on bent knee, was no freedom at all.

No, this could not stand. It may be a necessary evil for the moment, especially with Prince of Nightmares attempting to manipulate all the nearby nations into an epic war, but it could not become the new status quo. He would find a way to free his people from the tyranny of these barbarians, one way or another!

Soon, the time of rest and training would be over. Despite the necessity of his presence having come to an end, Morocco had elected to stay at his side. As did their incredibly stubborn druid, for whatever reasons she had decided on. And Brynn had been promised to keep his company for a period of a year and had to stay … and yet, beneath the coy playful selfish exterior, he sensed a certain affection for this group. Or perhaps she enjoyed the challenges that came with sticking around and fighting in the battles they had fought, and would likely continue to fight.

The sun of this chapter of life had set amidst a river of ashes, but a new dawn approached that promised events and circumstances that would prove to be very interesting to this quartet of Paragons in the near future!

Throwing the ball of discord

Morocco wanted to save the goblin’s life but he agreed to tell the whole truth to the Half-Elf investigator so he asked Atrius and Brynn to deal with him while he and Raven will find the goblin.

(I forgot what happened exactly with Atrius and Brynn )

Morocco and Raven started by the bar the goblin used to go and met a friendly Ogre that told them where the goblin lived. Going there, it seemed empty so Raven picked the lock and in we went. It was a kind of a commune where several people lived under the same roof although it was effectively empty but we managed to find out where he used to sleep but it was clear he fled and Raven tracked him in the directioon of the train where we caught up to him and that’s where the ball of discord was thrown.

Seeing that the guy was leaving the city, Morocco saw the occasion to retreat and let him go away since it was exactly what he wanted for him in the first place but, suprisingly, Raven went feral about it and was adamant about bringing him to justice.

So the game started with Raven going after the goblin then Morocco trying to stop her with a grapple that she escaped to go more physical about it on the goblin and Morocco trying to stop her again while the goblin tries to flee and Morocco yelling to him to go to House Tharask outpost and all this in the middle of a crowd.

In the meantime, Atrius and Brynn arrived and Atrius tried to calm Morocco and Raven while Brynn dealt with the crowd. Morocco listened to Atrius while Raven ignore him and went as far as to directly tackle the goblin almost killing it so good the tackle was. Morocco decided to leave for his outpost; so disgusted he was that he told the guard to not let Raven enter.

Finally, they brought the goblin at the outpost where he was put into custody but since Raven was prevented from entering, Raven and Atrius went to a bar while Brynn went to tell me about the goblin.

In the meantime, Morocco got news from Byann about the war being moved up, we are supposed to attack in 4 weeks! The troups aren’t ready for sure so we need to discover why the haste and try to cancel the order. We also need to talk with the dead gnome to see if we can learn more about what we suspect to be a faction working against Shea Joridal`s freedom.

Atrius needed to know about this so I asked Brynn to tell him that I need to see him while I delt with the goblin. Morocco first thought about smuggling the goblin away from the city but after talking to Atrius, telling him the news in the process, we finally settled to try to get an exile for him from the magistrate.

Before this, Morocco went to make peace with Raven…sort of… then we went to see the Half-Elf so ask him about his investigation and conclusions. He ended with the same conclusion as Morocco but was missing an discussion with the goblin; We offered him to do so and he accepted; We then went to bribe a magistrate and got the exile although we didn’t tell Raven about the bribe of course…who would believe that a Druid could be so thick about following the laws…

BRAZEN ATTACK IN FAIRHAVEN

Yesterday, Fairhaven saw a BRAZEN and SHOCKING attack on Cobbler’s way in the Merchant district, near the New Bridge. Witness reports are spotty, but it appears a domestic dispute spiralled out of control with a hysterical elf female launching herself at a goblin male, who had abandoned the slattern.

The female, who had a distinctive feral air, apparently fought off one of the goblin’s confederates. In a surprising turn, the goblin’s associate was an half-orc heir of House Tharashk, displaying the distinctive mark of the House tattooed across his face. Doubtless attempting to minimize attention to his house, he tried unsuccessfully to calm the deranged elf, before stamping off in a huff.

Likewise, a drunken tiefling woman, possibly the consort of the half-orc, harangued the gathered onlookers to ignore the daytime assault of the goblin. Certain witnesses claimed that there was a fourth participant to the scuffle, another elf woman, who was described both as “surprisingly masculine” and “sexily well-muscled”.

Reached for comment about the attack, a House Tharashk spokesperson denied any involvement by House Tharashk or any of its representatives, though long-time city residents will note that the incident occurred four streets from the House Tharashk compound.

If the author can editorialize for a moment, this is just the latest of a long series of incidents caused by relaxing standards of entry to the city. As we seek to rebuild our kingdom after a long and ruinous war, we need to recall why we are rebuilding and what are the values for which we were willing to fight.

TRAGEDY IN ASHENPORT

The Korranberg Chronicle has learned that the hamlet of Ashenport, located in the north of Aundair on the Eldeen Bay, has suffered some sort of attack. At the moment, details are scarce, but a spokesperson for the Aundair military establishment have confirmed that there were no survivors. Ashenport, located near the border with the Eldeen Reaches, is remote from other Aundair settlements.

Preliminary reports indicate that the scene was discovered by a trader who had heard about a fair for magical items at Ashenport scheduled for earlier this month. The trader had been delayed by torrential rains. The town would have been deserted and subsequent investigation by the authorities has failed to turn up any indication of what happened to the inhabitants.

Could this herald an attempt by the druids of the Eldeen Reaches to take over additional territory in the sparsely populated north? Does the attack on Ashenport have something to do with the apparent fair for magical items? The spokesperson for the Aundair military did not deny the possibility, adding that the manner in which inhabitants of the ill-fated town seem to have vanished does not preclude the involvement of some sort of magical attack, druidic or otherwise.

Reached for comment, General Avram ir’Wynarn stated “It goes without saying that any attack on a part of Aundair is an attack on the whole of Aundair. All those who underestimate the strength and resolve of Aundair and her queen do so at their peril.”

EXCLUSIVE!!! The Korranberg Chronicle has learned that the Sixth Royal Infantry, together with substantial magical support, has been deployed to the border with the Eldeen Reaches.

Fairheaven

Now that the adventure is over, we needed to know more about Bryanne. Although she came from Droaam with those two letters, she is really from the Demon Wastes, something that irks Morocco so he started interrogating her about her patron and contacts but he didn’t learn much and decided that she was evil but since Felkuk trusted her enough to send her to us, he could work with her, at least until her contract expires, in a year then we’ll see.

The next thing that needed to be investigated is the meaning of the decapitated head. Since he’s not loyal to us in any ways, branding him as traitor and sending his head as gift was strange indeed. Morocco elaborated an hypothesis that he could be the target of the message instead since he was the one, with Giovanno, that talked to the guy at Grimstone Keep where he was part of the circus and told him they were going to Eldeen’s Reaches although it didn’t take a genious to deduct where we were going at that time so if that info costed that gnome his head seemed silly but their point of view is not ours so it was a possibility.

Later, another, more realistic, hypothesis was elaborated. Gnomes are coming from Zilargo and are basicaly spies. More interesting, there is a tower there with a large number of gnomes, loyal to the eladrins living there so that message might be that the gnomes are attempting a coup.

We finally arrived at Fairheaven where Morocco met with Old Bear Blackthorn, head of House Tharashk outpost there (clan Blackthorn is vassal to clan Nightbrawler which came into power about 30 years ago due to the mark appearance otherwise, it would have been the converse). Felkuk sent the informations about Darguun’s leaders to him.

The war-leader is an hobgoblin called Lesh Aruk; the clan chiefs are Rufus Dekan, an hobgoblin, Morgath Morgul, a bugbear and Tourd Valar, a goblin.

Darguun has a prophecy about the rebirth of a great leader of the past and they believe that Lesh is him so if we could dispatch him, that might give them a huge moral hit which would help our cause greatly. Also, since it seems that our secret mission is no longer so secret anymore and they probably know that we will be ready in a year, we’ll need to play in their head as much as possible to weaken their resolve before we could attack.

Back to the present, Old Bear told us that House Tharashk has some construction contracts and is employing some non-human laybor to do the task alongside some humans who are not very pleased about that because they cost less and perform better at some tasks and there was a problem that he’d like us to investigate. We agreed to go and brought in a goblin, Arvin, that saw the commotion and led us to it.

We noticed a bunch of amgy humans facing a building. Morocco calmed them enough to talk to them and they told us that one of them got killed but no one has seen the body and they believe that the non-human are responsible.

they let us passed to talked to the non-human. the door is barricaded. Raven morphed into a bird and noticed that the non-human are afraid and are blocking the way but more importantly, she found the body, it was down the cliff, near the unfinished bridge. Her and Atrius went to investigate the body while Morocco and Brynne went to talk to the non-human. She also noticed that some of the humans seems to have been in a fight.

The body seemed to have falling wounds only and the non-humans didn’t know much about what happened so Morocco performed his ritual that let him see what happen. The guy was drunk and stumbled inside the building; a goblin came toward him and an argument started then a fight. The human started it but he fell down the cliff during the fight. The goblins told us that Groat didn’t come to work today and we learned where he uses to stay after work.

It was an accident but the goblin’s life is forfieted for sure regardless so, we decided to not tell the mob all the truth, Atrius brought the body up and Brynne and him convinced them that he was drunk when he stumbled to his death. They calm down which will give us the time to find Groat, or so we thought…

Raven Spotted someone in the mob that wasn’t there earlier, a half-elf that came toward Morocco after the speech and introduced himself as Arrean Ellaren or House Modany…House Tharashk’s competitor, he was hired by the client to investigate the death.

Morocco didn’t want to tell him the whole truth, he prefered to let him discover whatever happened all by himself saying the House Tharask’s reputation was at stake which wasn’t the truth…well, asside for the fact that it irks Morocco that House Modany will use this situation to undermine House Tharashk but that will happen regardless.

He didn’t tell them the true reason because, at that point, he didn’t know exactly why he wanted it this way, he needed to think it out and they went mad about his decision, making it hard to think at all and they had a good point, the half-elf will discover that they volontarily hid some facts since Morocco used his ritual’s focus in pain sight so it will be a greater reputation hit to no cooperate with the half-elf so we will cooperate.

Morocco will tell the group the true reason before talking to the Half-elf : he wanted the time to save Groat’s life by sending him back to Droaam before the Half-Elf discovers his identity.

We’ll also need to talk to the beaten up humans to see if the fight Morocco saw wasn’t as isolated as it seemed to be.

The church`s basement

After the battle, we opened the other doors and found the innkeeper and another person. Atrius’ diplomacy and Morocco’s intimidation made them talk so we learned about the story of the village (which I don’t remember the details).

Atrius wanted to use the hostages as cannon fodder but Morocco refused to endanger what he believed to be manipulated innocent people. We kept them tied and continued the exploration. Listening to a door told us that they were waiting for us on the otherside.

So we charged the other room and fought and won that fight. Morocco decided to have a long chat with the hostages and since they definitly were not under outside influence and they willingly worship that evil god, he saw no other way to deal with them than death.

We found a secret door which wasn’t trapped but the corridor they other side was full of traps, the first one sent blue balls after us, we needed to destroy the source then the balls. After that we needed to bypass loose plates that triggers poisoned bolts. the corridor went both ways so we chose one that lead to the leader of the cult that we dipatched with difficulty but still prevail.

Everybody except Atrius, Morocco and Raven decided to leave, even Ember decided to leave us and seems to want to join the concurrents… With what she knows, can we let her go like that?

We were done but we still had a corridor to explore so we did. we found a cavern with a layer of illusion showing a false women in front of an altar and a slop going there but which was truely a 10 feet drop. 3 big statues were there as well.

Morocco steped in and the statues animated but also a strange creature showed up as well, like some kind of a giant colorful medusa(not the mythic creature, the real one from the oceans)

Raven got pinned by a statue and while we were trying to free her, the strange medusa was affecting our mind. We were in bad shape and on the verge of loosing that battle when we saw someone entered the room. We tought we were truely doomed but she was an ally!!! With her effective help, we finally won.

We didn`t have time to make good aquintance with her but her name is Brynne and she came from Droaam with 2 letters, one for Morocco and one for Atrius, and a gift which turned out to be the head of a gnome Morocco talked to at Meera’s keep, with the word traitor gouged on his forehead.

Morocco doesn’t remember saying anything harmful to the mission to the gnome but did he without knowing it? that needs to be investigated.

Trapped!

The travel to Ashenport was mostly uneventful but rainy until an horrible roar resounded. With the rain pouring it was hard to know what exactly it was but it ended up being a rabid Owlbear who, fortunatly for us, only hurted us with its roar, had it been another attack, we most likely would have been diseased. We made short work of the poor beast and continue on our way toward the village.

The village had nothing special so we went directly to the inn which was special, it looked like 3 buildings had been put together to make it. Inside, the guests were mostly strangers so they must have been there for the magical weapons too; An Elf with a shadow mark, some people from House Deneith, someone with 2 golems of sort. The innkeeper was not very friendly but the serving people were so overall, everything seemed normal aside from the rain that never stopped and the auction was for the next day so we took our supper and went to bed.

During the night, we all had a dream with an enticing music, a bit like sirens calls and several guests got affected, including Morocco. Affected people were lead toward the beach where they most likely end up drowning so the trap was laid by a bunch of mermaids? that needs to be investigated but before that, those not affected had all the troubles in the world waking up the mind-affected people.

Atrius, Ember and Raven tried to go gently with Morocco at first, Raven tripped him and Atrius poured a casquet of Ale on his face but what did it is Raven attacking him in beast-form and Atrius bullrushing him. We then went to help the others.

We all finally regrouped to the inn where we noticed that some people were missing. Inquisitive’s Eye ritual revealed that some affected people went out before the surviving people which is why we didn’t see them during the rescue but interestingly enough, the innkeeper went out by the backdoor before the event started without locking the front door beside, he should be sleeping at the inn to begin with.

Raven tracked him to a church where we found a secret door inside and what Raven’s feared became reality, worshipers of a bad god, The Devorer, invaded this village and used the long-lost-treasure as bait to lure more people to their net. Since falling into traps is the speciality of adventurers, we descended into the secret door and ended up into a room-of-many-doors. Tracking the innkeeper lead to a closet with worshipper’s robe that Morocco immediatly shred into pieces just to piss them off.

No doors were trapped so we opened one; a fish-like creature immediatly attacked while the other doors opened to reveal more of those creatures; their language is unkown but I’m sure they all yelled Surprise!! to greet us although their claws kind of indicate that we were the cake of their party!

Filling our agenda

The bandits told us where Kiljack would be found, the fire caves and although a large treasure is supposed to be hidden in there, we couldn’t let Victor’s body unattended so we decided to get back to Passage and see to get a resurrection for him.

Unfortunatly, the resurrection didn’t work but stranger still, the body got stolen and while Inquisitive’s Eye ritual reveled how it happened, the thieves weren’t identifiable and where they went with him is still unkown but we believe that Undair did it to get information out of the body which could jeopardize our main mission so Morocco gave instruction for the thieves to be tracked down.

An Elf wanted to meet with us, her name Raven, a druid, so we went to meet her and it turned out to be an investigator from Eldeen Reaches, she was to investigate our involvement in the disappearance of Oalian! To our dismay, their leader disappeared just after we departed…something more to investigate but in the meantime, we got a new member to our team.

We learned that darguun somehow learned about Shea Joral’s attempt to hire mercenaries from house Tharashk in order to break the siege and they are also hireing mercs from House Deneith that is also attempting to get the Valinar’s Elves on their side by sending an emissary there. We’ll need to send emissaries of our own but Morocco sent a message to Felkok to learn more about Darguun’s inhabitants and their leaders.

A party was given by House Tharashk to honor Morocco and his deeds for the House and his courage in battle but, frankly, he’ just a big brute that wouldn’t have survived that long without a team to back him up so he hope they saw it as an honor given to the team instead. With the death of Victor and the disappearance of Giovanni/o, Morocco wasn’t necessarily in a mood to party.

Atrius went to buy a way to teleport an army from House Sivis and we learned that a large quantity of magical weapons will be sold at a small village at Eldeen Bay in undair, about 2 weeks from passage and that will be our next destination to see if there will be anything helpful on our mission. Not sure why but it smells like a trap but we’ll see.

A new acquaintance

To get to Passage, we took House D’orian’s caravan, a wonderous machine it was with lots of lights. An intriguing passenger was with us on our travel; a little bit reserved but we decided to make acquaintance with him…which happened to be a her, a Genasi(?) female swordsmage named Ember. After some talking, a friendly wrestling match started between Morocco and Ember which was a close call in favor of Morocco.

The journey went eventless so we quickly arrived to Passage where Morocco met the head of House Tharashk outpost, Arlesse Valdaran, to get the news; There was not much news but we learn that House Mudany patrols the mourndland’s border and possesses outfits to protect them from the fog;

We also got a bounty hunting mission which will pay 2000 gp for the return of a bandit named Kayljak, a Human Male with an obvious scare on the face; We need to bring him alive to the king of Aundair and is accused of pillage and murder; he is known to be around Eldritch groves, in Breeland, south of Passage and possesses a well known sword, Grilltooth.

Ember agreed to join us so we left Passage quickly to find Kayljak; we should have brought horses but going from inns to inns we finally learned the location of our target, <something> Moon so we headed there immediatly.

As soon as we entered the inn, we saw Kayljak but the whole place attacked us at the sight of Morocco’s mark, branding him “Bounty Hunter” and them being bandits, they felt threatened for some reason.

The fight was overwhelming; gnomes teleporting all over the place and hitting like a ton of bricks while the sheer number of them got the better of our recovery potential so, in the end, they still had a huge upper hand on us, they were actualy winning; Morocco and Victor were down, Ember and Atrius badly hurt while the 3 gnomes, their boss and a thiefling bandit boss still up, things looked pretty grim for us but luck finally got on our side.

While things seemed lost, the three gnomes miraculously missed Ember which would have downed her and she and Atrius bloodied them in return but not before having brought the gnomes’ leader down first; Morocco got a miraculous recovery which brought him back to consciousness long enough to intimidate them into reason, they finally saw Parlay as a viable option…was about time, we didn’t want to fight in the first place.

Sadly, Victor never recovered from his wounds, we lost another comrade. May his soul rests in peace forever.

The show must go on and the bandits accepted to give the information we needed about Kayljak; it seems that the guy is a bit paranoid and knows something about a large treasure at the Fire Cave, were we probably will find him after he fled the combat out of fear of Morocco’s intimidation earlier in the combat.

The book of the dead

After our first encounter with the undeads, we went deeper into the ruins where we encountered more undeads and their teifling master that we dealt with quickly. That room had holes that we climbed down since it was the only way out of the room beside the entrence we came from.

we ended up into a corridor with spiral stairs on a side and a dead end on the other; of course, like good adventurers we went the dead end way and foound out that an illusion was covering a strange door, a door with a demonic high relief covered with runes.

we discovered that the runes were letters that were used to open the door by finding the right word. we tried the amulet that the tiefling had over the runes and it gave us the hint that 2 of the runes weren’t part of the password. After a couple random attempts that hurt Victor a little bit in the process, an alarm was set which Victor managed to unset but nothing attacked us so we continued our investigation on the door.

Eventualy, we deducted that the password was tied to demon names and eventualy, we found it, it was Malvos spelled backward! The door opened on a wide cave with a stone sarcophagus at the center. It was opened. We expected a fight with demons and undeads but nothing happened and nothing happened even after searching every inches of the room!

On the sarcophagus’ cover, there was a high relief of a teifling holding a book; the bones were still there but not the book. Eventualy, we finally came to the conclusion that the one that stole the book left during our extended rest but how to track them? We looked at the tracks nearest the sarcophagus and then we managed to find the same ones outside that we tracked.

After an extenuating treck in through the wilderness, following the tracks, we catched up on them, a bunch of humans, some with flaming swords.

The fight went quickly but not before their caster did the most horrible thing, he casted a spell on Giovanno, 2 shadowy hands grabbed him and he was replaced by a shadow version of him but was he cursed or was it something else entirely? The answer came when the caster died…it wasn’t Giovanno but where is he? We suspect that he’s prisonner of the land of shadows.

We had no choice but to move on so we got back to the barbarian camp then back to Geenheart on the back of Griffins. Olian met us again to give us the answers to our questions and our rewards, the 3 dragon shards.

To Giovanno’s question, he answered to seek out someone named Sahemy that Rowan knows to be a halfling but nothing more although Aundare is supposed to know who it is.

To answer Atrius’ question, Olian sent him into a transe and told Morocco that the answer to is question depends on Atrius’ choices and only Atrius knows what happened during his transe but since we are now planning to meet the mad scentist’s house and the traveler’s house, war machines seems to be our next course of action.
